For this week’s brain teaser, we continued again with a “What am I?” formatted riddle. However, this one may be more difficult because it is not one you can search online to find an answer.
Negative exam,
Breaking down the word “Contest”, you get “Con” and “Test”. “Con” refers to “Pro vs con”, in which “Con” refers to the definition of “negative”. “Test” can be defined as an “exam”.
A struggle for victory,
When used as a noun, the word “contest” is a competition in which most of the time, people are struggling to become the victor.
Against a trial,
When used as a verb (i.e. “I’d like to contest your answer”), the word “contest” means you are going against something.
